Page2Task Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 8, 2026
Page2Task is a Chrome extension that turns the page you are viewing, or a screenshot or text you paste, into a Google Tasks to-do or a Google Calendar event. It is designed so that your data goes only where you send it: to your own Google account, and (optionally) to an AI service you choose. The developer operates no servers and receives none of your data.
What the extension accesses, and why
- The current page (title, URL, selected text, visible text, including an open email): read only when you click the extension icon, to suggest a task title and detect deadlines. The extension cannot read pages in the background.
- Screenshots or text you paste into the popup: used only to extract the to-do / event you asked for.
- Your Google account (via Google's official sign-in): used only to create tasks and calendar events you explicitly ask for, to list your task lists, and to display which account is connected. Scopes requested: Google Tasks, Google Calendar events, and your email address.
Where your data goes
- Google APIs (
tasks.googleapis.com, www.googleapis.com): the task or event you create is sent directly from your browser to your own Google account.
- AI processing, chosen by you in Settings:
- On-device (Chrome's built-in AI, the default for new users): page text, pasted text, or screenshots are processed locally on your computer. Nothing leaves your device.
- Your own AI key (optional): if you add a Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or Kimi (Moonshot) API key in Settings, the text/screenshot you analyze is sent directly from your browser to that provider under your account and their privacy terms.
- Local rules: with neither of the above, dates are detected locally with no AI at all.
- Nowhere else. No developer servers, no analytics, no ads, no tracking.
What is stored
- Preferences (chosen mode, default event length, last-used task list) are stored in Chrome's extension storage (
chrome.storage.sync), which Chrome may sync across your own signed-in browsers.
- Any API keys you enter are stored in local-only extension storage (
chrome.storage.local): they stay on the computer where you typed them, are never synced, and are sent only to the AI provider they belong to.
- The extension keeps no history of pages, emails, screenshots, or created tasks.
What we never do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
- We do not use your data for advertising or for any purpose other than the single feature described above.
- We do not collect analytics or telemetry of any kind.
Revoking access
You can disconnect your Google account at any time from the extension's Settings page, and additionally revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Uninstalling the extension removes its stored settings.
